SOCIETIES’ INFORMATION

The Catholic Church of Pentecost's Societal information

  • Umbrella body for all Catholic Men who are 25years in age and above.
    Aims and Objectives:

    • To ensure the spiritual, moral, intellectual and material upliftment of its members and the Parish community by encouraging members in the practice of the Catholic faith.
    • To provide a veritable platform for cooperation among Catholic men in the actualisation of the overall mission of the church.
    • To enhance the spirituality of the family; which is the domestic church; by promoting the practice of the Catholic faith.
    Meetings:
    General Meeting – Second Sunday of the Month immediately after the 9:30am Mass, inside the church premises.
    Greeting - CMO!! Christ is our leader!!!

  • Umbrella body for all Catholic Women who are 25years in age and above.
    Aims and Objectives:

    • To bring every woman of 25years of age and above (both married & unmarried) under one umbrella.
    • To support members to attain some level of financial freedom
    • To support the physical and spiritual growth of the members and the church.
    Meetings:
    Monthly Thanksgiving/Meeting - Second Sunday of the Month immediately after the 9:30 am Mass, inside the church premises.
    Greeting - Through Mary our Mother!! We succeed!!!

  • Umbrella body for all young men and women within the ages of 14years and 35years
    Aims and Objectives:

    • To ensure the spiritual development of the youth in the parish through personal prayers, bible and spiritual reading and participation in the sacramental apostolic missionary life of the church so as to achieve sound spiritual and moral excellence among the youths of the parish.
    • To harness the resources and develop the potentials of members so that they may become model Catholics with exemplary character.
    Youth Fellowship:
    Youth fellowship holds every Wednesday at 6pm inside the church
    Meetings:
    General Meeting - Second Sunday of the Month immediately after the 9:30 am Mass, inside the church premises.
    Slogan - For God and for Youth!!

  • Aim:
    To bring together mothers (married in the church) with the aim of praying for their husbands, children, members and the society
    Objectives:

    • Education of children by truly Christian Mothers and the spiritual growth and sanctification of mothers for the good of the family.
    • Under the special patronage of the Mother of Sorrows the members are encouraged joyously and hopefully to undertake the important task of training and sanctifying the young souls entrusted to their care.
    • To enhance the spirituality of the family; which is the domestic church; by promoting the practice of the Catholic faith.
    Meetings:
    General Meeting - First Sunday of the Month immediately after the 9:30 am Mass, inside the church premises.
    Prayer Meeting – Every Saturday after the Morning Mass

  • Aim:
    To ensure the reverent proclamation of the Word of God and ultimately cultivate a deep spirituality in every lector.
    Aims and Objectives:

    • To ensure the reverent proclamation of the Word of God at Mass and other liturgical functions and celebrations
    • To study, understand and reflect on the Word of God thereby cultivating a deep spirituality in every lector
    Gatherings/Meetings:
    • Rehearsals – Every Saturday after the Morning Mass in the Church premises
    • General Meeting – Fourth Sunday of every month in the Church premises

  • Aims and Objectives:

    • To maintain law, order and discipline during Mass and other Liturgical functions in the Archdiocese.
    • To serve as wardens during Liturgical celebrations in the Archdiocese of Lagos.
    • To maintain liaison with other Catholic organisations whose objectives are similar with those of the Board.
    • To perform and act in ways which the board may consider necessary, wise or expedient for the promotion of its aims and objectives.
    Gatherings/Meetings:
    Meetings/Monthly Thanksgiving – The Fourth Sunday of every Month immediately after the 9.30am Mass at the church premises

  • Aim:
    To spread devotion to St Anthony and strengthen Christian faith and morals.
    Objectives:

    • To contribute to works of charity carried out in St Anthony's name. [Bread for the poor] etc.
    • To participate actively in the various apostolate of the Guild.
    • To Participate in the liturgical celebrations of the Guild.
    Meetings:
    Meeting Day – Every Tuesday of the Week by 6pm at the church premises

  • Aims and Objectives:
    The object of the Legion of Mary is the glory of God through the holiness of its members developed by prayer and active co-operation, under ecclesiastical guidance, in Mary's and the church’s work of crushing the head of the serpent and advancing the reign of Christ (Handbook of the Legion 11. 2).
    Presidia & Meeting Days:

  • Aim:

    To serve and assist during the liturgy in songs
    Objectives:

    • To enliven and enhance the worship experience during the Liturgy.
    • To edify souls and minister to the congregation in songs
    • To serve in the church as a faith formation group while glorifying God through songs.
    Meeting days:
    Every Saturday 4.30pm in the Church Premises
    Every Wednesday at 6:30pm in the Church compound
    Monthly meetings hold every first Sunday of the month after the 9:30am Mass.

  • Aims and Objectives:
    • To deepen the spiritual life of the individual through personal conversion, commitment to Jesus Christ, daily prayer and scripture reading, and a deep participation in the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church.
    • To lead believers, through instruction and prayer in the Life in the Spirit Seminars, to the joyous and divine experience of the Holy Trinity as a living reality.
    • To earnestly desire and pray for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and exercise these gifts freely in the service of others and of the Church under the guidance of her pastors.
    Days of fellowship:
    • Prayer meeting: Every Friday immediately after the evening Mass
    • Ministry meeting: Every Thursday at 7pm

  • Aim: To Foster the spirit of love and unity amongst its members.
    Objectives:

    • To improve the spiritual life of her members through the worthy reception of the sacrament.
    • To promote St Benedict’s group so as to measure up with existing societies in the church, by supporting church projects.
    • To support the individual and collective interests of all her members.
    Meeting days::
    Fourth Sunday of every month.
    Time for meetings: After the 9:30am Mass
    Venue: Church premises

  • Aim: To help the poor and needy in our parish and zones covered by the church without any form of discrimination, be it creed, race, ethnicity, age, etc.
    Objectives:

    • Providing useful material relief and support to the poor and needy - the hungry, naked, homeless, sick, jobless, those suffering from addictions and disabilities, etc.
    • Visiting the sick, the imprisoned, the aged, the disabled, orphans and others who may be in need to show them love, help meet their immediate needs and pray with them.
    • Personal sanctification of members through sharing Christian love, friendship and counselling those we serve.
    Meeting days:
    Every Sunday by 5pm at the Church Premises

  • Aim:
    To propagate the social reign of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary
    Aims and Objectives:

    • To encourage and promote perpetual Adoration and enthronement of the Sacred Heart in the homes of members and repay Christ’s love with gratitude.
    • To entrust all their cares to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary both spiritual and material needs
    • Strive to please Jesus by an exemplary Catholic-Christian life .
    Devotions/Meetings:
    Every Thursday immediately after church adoration
    Every first Friday of the month immediately after evening Mass
    Every first Saturday of the month immediately after 8:am Mass
    Monthly meetings hold every last Sunday of the month inside the church.

  • Aims and Objectives:

    • To render faithful, reverent, and meaningful service to God by assisting at the celebration of Holy Mass and other liturgical and devotional functions.
    • To form a very close friendship with Jesus in the Eucharist
    Meeting Day:
    Fourth Sunday of every month
    Meeting Time: Immediately after the 9:30am Mass
    Meeting Venue: Church hall
    Rehearsal Day and Time: Every Saturday by 4pm

  • Aims and Objectives:

    • To promote devotion to the Divine Mercy as revealed through St. Maria Faustina, the Apostle of Mercy.
    • To assist all men and women to become merciful as Jesus Christ has commanded in the gospels.
    Meeting Day:
    Every fourth Sunday of the month.
    Meeting Time: Immediately after the 9:30am Mass
    Daily Prayers: Hold online on the WhatsApp platform of the group.
